JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Superintendent, manages, plans organizes, supervises and assists in maintenance, operations, and transportation functions on a district-wide basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION
May include, but not limited to:
Maintain authority and responsibility in regard to district-wide maintenance/operations/transportation program.
Coordinate and manage regular daily transportation to and from school, including authorized field trips.
Troubleshoot, schedule, service, and perform minor repairs to all District Vehicles.
Plan, manage, direct, and perform (when appropriate) maintenance of all District motor-driven vehicles.
Receive, investigate and resolve complaint issues of parents and staff concerning bus transportation, general and/or grounds maintenance policies, practices, and situations.
Coordinate the purchase and inventory of supplies and materials for the maintenance, operations, and transportation departments.
Supervise general maintenance and custodial functions of the District.
Monitor and make recommendations, and implement policies and procedures dealing with transportation, general maintenance, and custodial functions of the school sites.
Coordinate and plan with building principals on repair and maintenance tasks and problems, as well as routine custodial services at each site.
Prepare work schedules, bus routes, and preventive maintenance schedules district-wide with input from District and site managers.
10. Must be familiar with and in compliance with legal requirements affecting school bus operation and maintenance personnel issues, including Title 13: Authority of the driver; student conduct; student discipline and control; driver/student/parent relations; safety procedures; accident reporting; breakdown procedures; etc.
11. Train new, regular, and substitute employees as deemed necessary.
12. Evaluate maintenance, custodial, and transportation personnel of the District.
13. Coordinate vacation and summer work schedules for all maintenance, operations, transportation and custodial personnel as necessary.
14. Coordinate and performs periodic inspection of all facilities.
15. Perform duties of a Bus Driver when deemed necessary.
16. Perform related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge and Application of:
Safe driving practices; provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code applicable to the operation of vehicles in transporting school children; first aid practices; and geography of the school district; and must have a working knowledge of mechanical repairs and adjustments of motor vehicles.
Methods, practices, equipment of (including maintenance of) and supplies used in the building trades and in (Continued)custodial and grounds work; laws affecting construction and repair, principles of supervision training and management, strategies of management, personnel practices, state fire, health, and safety codes; basic safety practices regarding equipment, cleaning/grounds methods and practicable application of duties.
Ability to:
Operate a school bus, exercising good judgement and extreme caution
Maintain order among students on a bus
Learn a designated bus route, bus stops, and district traffic hazards
Make simple reports
Keep records
Understand and carry out oral and written instructions
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, the public, and staff
Familiar with power tools operation
Experience with both diesel and gasoline engine operation and repair
Able to perform minor engine repairs and troubleshoot engine problems
Perform repairs to gardening equipment, including tractor and gang mowers
Maintain accurate records and make independent decisions within scope of authority
Train, supervise and evaluate staff
Plan and supervise district-wide buildings and grounds maintenance program
Education / Experience:
At least four (4) years in related areas with progressively increasing responsibilities of which would include: not less than one (1) year experience in Supervisory capacity and no less than one (1) year experience as a bus driver, or any combination of training and experience that could provide the desired knowledge and abilities; general mechanical experience in repair of tractors, automobiles, trucks, and buses.
High School Diploma or GED, related training or experience is highly desirable. Certification as a School Bus Driver Instructor upon hire; or, willingness to seek and obtain the appropriate certification as soon as training is available.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
