Certified Tower Technician

Job Description

Velociter Wireless has been the leading wireless Internet provider for the California Central Valley since 2003. We are expanding our operations and are seeking candidates to join our growing team. Velociter has an opening for a RF & MW Tower Technician to assist with new microwave tower deployments, maintenance, and equipment upgrades.


Required experience: Tower climbing experience: 1+ year


Responsibilities and Duties


The RF & Tower Technician is responsible for installation of wireless equipment, specifically antennas, lines and radio equipment. The technician will be responsible for installing, tuning, aligning, troubleshooting and testing RF and microwave components. Work is performed on the Velociter Wireless private network throughout the Central California area. Much of the work will be at-height (30-550 feet). No long-distance traveling is required.


Climb towers to install, replace, upgrade, and troubleshoot wireless equipment


Pulling and terminating CAT5/ CAT6 in commercial environments


Rack and Stack work, closet work, putting together server racks, patch panels


Testing cables; Cable Management


Troubleshooting networking issues


Grounding; Color Coding; Millivolt Meter Testing


Accurately maintains van and installation or service parts inventory


Keeps workplace clean and organized


Other duties as needed and as directed


 


Qualifications and Skills


High School Diploma or Equivalency


1+ year hands-on tower climbing experience


Must be a certified tower climber (ComTrain or other)


Rope and rigging skills


Ability to visually distinguish colors


Good typing/computer skills


Valid California driver's license


Must pass drug screening and background check


Must be able to work outside of normal business hours (i.e.: shift work), to include nights and weekends, if needed

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
